Last week, we talked about gadgets that can make the time spent in your car less painful—and perhaps even enjoyable. (Massaging seat cushion, anyone?) This week, we’re spotlighting some of our favorite apps that make life better on the road. We recommend using these apps in conjunction with Breezeworks of course…

  • MileIQ: If you were scrambling to figure out your mileage in order to claim a tax deduction this month, give MileIQ a try. The app automatically logs and calculates your business miles, so you’ll have one less thing to stress over whenever April 15 approaches.
  • GasBuddy: Forget circling through neighborhoods trying to determine who has the cheapest gas—the place on that corner, or the place two blocks back. GasBuddy locates the nearest gas stations and, by relying on a community of users who share data, shows you their prices.
  • Spotify: Good music can make a big difference when you’re on the road for hours every day. With this app, you can listen to your own playlists (stored on your smartphone) or listen in “Radio” mode to hear songs that Spotify thinks you’ll like. There’s a free version of the app, as well as a premium version.
  • Umano: Not only can listening to new stories help pass the time and keep you in the know on everything from breaking news to sports, but it can come in handy when you’re trying to make small talk with customers. (Who do you think will get through the first round of the hockey and basketball playoffs?) Bonus: Umano’s news is read by real people, not computerized robotic voices.
